Back in September 2011 we posted the list of “10 things to do in Australia before you die“.
In that list we had things like visit the rock (Uluru), drive the Great Ocean Road and see the penguins at Phillip Island.
Apparently a list was compiled by Australian Traveller Magazine by 800 reader nominations. There are 100 in the list but the top 10 included:
Visit Lord Howe Island
Fly over the Bungle Bungles
See Lake Eyre in flood
Walk our most beautiful beach at Wineglass Bay
Take a year off and drive around Australia
Go back to nature in Kakadu
Explore ancient Arnhem Land
Visit the Australian Antarctic Territory
Cross the country both ways by train
Soak up the spectacular Flinders Ranges
How many can you tick off? Or are there places you want to add to the list?!
Hope you’re enjoying the VIP Backpacker’s Travel Blog. There will be a blog every other Friday, so keep tuning in to keep your travel dreams alive! If there are any travel topics you want covered feel free to contact me, Jo, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Read on for the ultimate list of things to do in Australia.
1. Visit the rock
The great monolith, Uluru, beckons out in the middle of central Australia with walks, camping and the chance to learn about Aboriginal Australian heritage. An absolute must on your downunder list.
2. Drive the Great Ocean Road
You can’t beat the Great Ocean Road for romantic and scenic drives. Stretching between Melbourne and Adelaide it’s a good overland weekend trip, or you could make it longer stopping off to camp, surf, sight see and snorkel on the way.
