Remembering 9-11: your stories

We’ve paused at VIP Backpackers in the last few days to reflect on the events of September 11, 2001, and what that has all meant for us as travelers.

While our thoughts are obviously with those that were so personally affected by this tragedy, in reality we’ve all been affected as travel security has heightened around the world and many of our nations are involved still in conflict as a result of it.

It’s incredible how we all remember what we were doing when we hear groundbreaking news like this. And I believe part of the healing process is to share our own stories of the event so I invite all of you to write in and let us know what you were doing when you heard of the September 11 events.

I was leading a group of backpackers through Tuscany on a mini van tour in the San Gimignano-Volterra area. I’d called into a bar to get order some coffees for the group and saw the footage on television. When I finally brought the group home, my co-workers met me with the news, that “someone is bombing America”.

Where were you when you heard about 9-11?
