10 September events to get to downunder

With winter over and spring now on our doorstep, it’s time to let your hair down. Festivities are getting ready to explode around the country throughout September. The 10 events listed below feature racing action, jazz, performance, food and the arts. Shinju Matsuri Broome’s Festival of the Pearl (13-22) WA
An arts and cultural event in beautiful Broome that dates back about 40 years. Ten days of events include fireworks, float parades, mardi gras, long table lunches and gala nights.

Melbourne Fringe Festival (18 – 6 October) VIC
A huge annual independent arts festival with almost every performance you could dream up. Running for three weeks events take place in bars, clubs, theatres and at Federation Square. These include performance art, film, live art, circus, theatre, comedy, music and more.
