10 hot New Year’s Eve party spots

Want some inspiration for a New Year’s Eve location this year?

Look no further than our December newsletter, out now and packed with details about the places, traditions and fun that takes place in 10 locations around the year come December 31.

Here’s an excerpt:

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

For perhaps the best firework show come New Years Eve, head to Sydney!  It’s summer time in Australia meaning you can actually enjoy being outside, without freezing, into the wee hours of the night! Sydney is a great party city and knows how to enjoy itself. Stake out a good spot by the harbour for your fireworks viewing and have a great time.

The alternative to the harbour is of course the action down at Bondi Beach where big name DJs consistently turn up for all the action on the beach.

List your top 10 favourite New Zealand places

We’ve been on a bit of a NZ love fest of late. We think the Kiwis aren’t a bad mob and we’d like to support their push for tourism in the aftermath of the earthquake.

In the May newsletter, that came out today, we’ve written a top 10 list of places we think should be on an itinerary to NZ.

While the list is based a lot on my experiences in NZ, I’m hoping I’ve picked some of your favourites as well.

Here’s one sneak preview:

Go thermal in Rotorua
If you’ve been travelling for awhile there’s nothing better than sitting back in the hot pools of Rotorua and having a good soak to let those weary bones recover. For those that are more active there are plenty of good mountain biking trails, trout fishing, walking tracks and lakes to explore in this region too.

Anyway I want to hear what your favourite New Zealand places are. Please write in with any places you would recommend or even make up a top list of your own to share with fellow VIP Backpackers…

“There’s Nothing like Australia” tourist campaign

If you’ve been debating about whether to make the trip downunder to Australia, maybe you should check out some of the reason’s why “There’s Nothing Like Australia” on the Tourism Australia website.

Their recent campaign to promote Australia, has been to rely on everyday Australians to promote their favourite spots with a photograph and 25 words of text. The idea is that it will be an “insider’s guide” to holiday spots around the country.

To give you a taste here’s just some of the entries. And of course if you’d like to include your own experience simply enter it online.

If you’re keen to see some entries, I added some at this other blog here.
