5 must-do activities in New Zealand during the Rugby World Cup

Okay so the action is heating up on the field with the Rugby World Cup. But while you’re waiting for the next game what should you do?

Franz Josef Heli Hike

Combine a scenic helicopter flight over the amazing Franz Josef Glacier with a guided walk actually on the ice. You’ll see caves, pinnacles, seracs and other glacier ice formations. Tranzalpine Train Adventure

You’ll need 11 days minimum for this ride through New Zealand but it sure is worth it. If you time it right it might allow you to see some of the rugby matches in other cities so check the schedules and your timetable.

The Tranzalpine train is fully operational despite running from earthquake hit Christchurch. It takes in highlights of the north and south islands: Franz Josef, Queenstown, Dunedin, Greymouth, Kaikoura and Picton then up north from Wellington Taupo and Auckland.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy Trail 2 (Air)

Take in sights from the famed movie trilogy by air in this wonderful half day trip.

Locations include the river Anduin, Ford of Bruinen, the Rohan camp at Dunharrow, Lothlorien, the battle of Amon Hen, Fangorn forest and Sarumans Tower at Isengard.

The tour also includes a landing at a major high country film location.
